Who I am

Buena Vista Real Estate is a sole-operator real estate agency based in Kuranda, Far North Queensland, operated by Meghan Wilson. I am bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, and how I handle it.

What personal information I collect

Depending on the service, I may collect your name, contact details (phone, email, postal address), property address, financial information relevant to a transaction or management agreement, photo identification, and any other information you provide me directly.

How I collect it

I collect personal information directly from you wherever possible — through enquiry forms on this website, email, phone, in-person conversations, or when you sign a management or sales agreement with me.

In some cases I may receive information from third parties, such as your solicitor, accountant, or financial adviser, or from publicly available sources such as property records.

Why I collect it

I collect and use your personal information to:

• provide property management, rental, and sales services to you

• communicate with you about your property or enquiry

• process payments and maintain financial records

• meet my legal obligations as a licensed Queensland real estate agent

• send you relevant updates about your property or my services (you can opt out at any time)

I don't collect more than I need.

Who I share it with

I may share your personal information with:

• Platform and software providers I use to operate my business, including Airbnb, Booking.com, realestate.com.au, Xero, and my CRM. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

• Tradespeople and contractors where necessary to carry out maintenance or repairs on your property — limited to what they need to do the job.

• Legal, financial, or regulatory bodies where required by law or as part of a property transaction (e.g. solicitors, REIQ, the Queensland government).

I don't sell your personal information. I don't share it for any purpose unrelated to the services I provide you.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the platforms I use store data on servers outside Australia (for example, cloud-based software providers). Where this occurs, I take reasonable steps to ensure those providers handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies

This website is built on Wix and may use cookies — small files stored on your device — to remember your preferences and understand how visitors use the site. Cookies don't identify you personally. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect how the site functions.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, unauthorised access, and loss — including secure storage of physical documents and use of password-protected, reputable cloud platforms. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, and I can't guarantee the security of information sent to me electronically.

Marketing

I may occasionally contact you with information relevant to your property or my services. If you'd prefer not to receive marketing communications, just let me know and I'll remove you from that list immediately.

Accessing or correcting your information

You have the right to request access to the personal information I hold about you, and to ask me to correct anything that's inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Contact me using the details below. I'll respond within a reasonable timeframe. In limited circumstances I may need to decline access (for example, where it would affect another person's privacy), and if so I'll explain why in writing.
